A Summer Like No Other

A Broken Dreams Novella
She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s the biggest player of them all.
They shouldn’t be together. But this summer’s just too tempting.
Sixteen-year-old Emilia Moretti’s goal for the summer is simple: forget her brother’s best friend—Nick Grawsky—ever existed. It should be easy: He’s spending his summer in the Hamptons, adding girls in tiny bikinis to his list of broken hearts. Guarantee he won’t be telling them they’re like his little sisters. This summer, Emilia won’t stay awake at night thinking about him. She’ll need flawless ballet movements to have a shot at next year’s showcase, and she’s finally ready to search for her birth parents. But when Nick decides to stay in the city, Emilia’s resolve disappears in a pirouette. Maybe it’s the spin they needed to be together. As long as she doesn’t get stuck believing in happily ever after…
Nick is tired of pretending to be the happy, let’s-have-fun guy. His father wants him to change his career from professional dancer to…lawyer. He needs to put all of his focus on dancing to prove to Daddy Dearest he’s good enough to make it big. And he may have a case of the bluest balls in history courtesy of Emilia. She’s off-limits: The bro code with Roberto even forbids the dirty thoughts he has about her. Besides, he’s not boyfriend material. He only has time for flings, for girls who don’t expect much, for girls he doesn’t want to kiss goodnight. He knows he should resist her, but he’s not sure he wants to…
At least for this summer.
It’s going to be a summer like no other.

God! This book... UGH! I truly love this series and all of these characters. In A summer Like No Other we get to meet Emilia and Nick and we get to read about the pain, suffering and un-containable emotions they both go through.

Emilia is so innocent, in the beginning. She is a dancer and her roommate is Nata, the main character in the full length novel, One, Two, Three. Emilia is on the search for her birth parents and she is going through so many emotions throughout this novella. On top of her search she is in love with her brothers best friend, Nick. There are many things that keep Emilia and Nick apart and it's very sad.

Now, just because Nata is mentioned in this novella does not mean you have to read One, Two, Three first. This novella has enough content that is can be read alone. I think because it focuses on two certain people is the reason it can be read out of turn. But you should still read all the other books anyways. Because... they are all amazing.

Nick is.... a guy. He is a normal guy, except for the fact that he dances. It is very enjoyable to get to read his thoughts and feelings. He is very impulsive and goes back and forth with a lot of the things in his head. Emilia is the biggest thing he is conflicted about. Well, besides his father and Jen. Nick is told what to do by so many people that I don't know why he hasn't just said screw it. Money is a big influence over most peoples lives and sadly Nick is one of those people. I just really hope he doesnt hurt Emilia because of his need for wealth.

After all is said and done I feel like Emilia should have just left things alone with the adoption. Everyone told her she would feel worse but I guess she needed to find that out on her own. Nick helped her a lot and I am glad he was there for her. But before we find out what the end of the book shows us I had all sorts of theories going on in my head. Was Nick's dad Emilia's father? Did Emilia's adopted dad have an affair and she was his real kid?

Let's just say that after finishing this novella I think both Emilia and Nick feel like a piece of meat auctioned off to the highest bidder. And I was frustrated because of the way it ended. I loved loved loved this novella! So don't think my frustration is a bad thing. I love when a book makes me want to know more.

Overall, I gave this book 4.5/5 stars.
