VACATION UPDATE!!

Today is day 4 of my Myrtle Beach vacation. I just did a short video of the view from my hotel balcony and took a few pictures. I will have all of those up either Sunday or Monday. I just got back from book shopping. One store was pretty good. The other ones were busts. I got 11 book. 8 hardbacks and 3 paperbacks for $40. I went on a shelling boat tour yesterday and had a pretty miserable time. I am just not a beachy person. My fiance and his family are mini-golf obsessed and I hate it. I also don't like the same foods that they do. So... I feel like a 4th wheel. I am just happy I got some books.

I will be doing a video haul of the books and souvenirs I got while being down here. That should be up on Sunday or Monday as well.

I hope everyone is having a great week! I know I'd rather be home, reading. :(

VACATION!!!

Posted by HelloJennyReviews at 9:52 AM 0 comments

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be going on vacation from August 17th - August 24th. So posts and reviews will be on hold until I get back. Once I get back I should have at least 3-4 reviews to do because I plan on reading a few books while lounging around. I have been in somewhat of a reading slump but I am hoping that some time away from my parents and the chaos at home will help me clear my head and be able to focus a little big more. I am also in desperate need of a new laptop, as the one I have now is quickly starting to blow up. There is just too much going on in my life right now with my fiance taking a 30 hour pay cut and school starting soon, my parents  having WWIII every day which wakes me up so I've been getting no sleep, and the fact that I've been looking for a second job to help get bills paid but no one is hiring. So I'm hoping this vacation will help with some of the stress. Buying books is my therapy for everything that's going on in my life and without the ability to buy books, well, I am slowly losing grip on my life. When I was a little girl, my books and stories were the only way I got through most of my life. To this day they still are one of the main reasons I make it through each day. Well, thanks for listening to my rant. I should have tons of pictures to put up when I get back. I might post a few things while I am gone, but the majority of my blog will be on vacation with me.

ALSO, I hope to have at least one more review up before I leave. But with the way my reading slump is going... I'm not going to be making any promises.

COVER REVEAL Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi (book #3)

Posted by HelloJennyReviews at 9:07 AM 0 comments
I am sooooo EXCITED for this book. I loved this series so flipping much and I definitely fangirled when I saw the cover!

Words can't even begin to express how gorgeous this cover is! I think this cover means the the book is going to have a turn for the better and things will start to brighten up and the world will start getting better.

The only thing that upsets me about these books is the fact that the first book has the new cover for paperback but not hardback. I want all my books to match! And they should redo the hardcover and add the ebook Destroy Me at the end.

But, yeah, I cannot wait until this books comes out! I don't understand how anyone could dislike this series! SQUEEEEEEEE!!

Information on the book:

Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi

Publication Date: February 4th 2014

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

Praise for the Shatter Me series:

"Dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense. I dare you to stop reading."-Kami Garcia, #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures series

"Tahereh Mafi's bold, inventive prose crackles with raw emotion. A thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love, the Shatter Me series is a must-read for fans of dystopian young adult literature-or any literature!"-Ransom Riggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

"Addictive, intense, and oozing with romance. I'm envious. I couldn't put it down."-Lauren Kate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen series.

Review The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Title: The Archived
Author: Victoria Schwab
Format: Hardback
Source: Library
Publisher: Hyperion

REVIEW: Unique. That is the first word that comes to mine when I think about what I just read. Amazing would be the second word. I am still swooning.

Mackenzie's little brother just recently died so her parents moved her away from her childhood home into an old hotel turned apartments. I don't approve of what her parents did. I would think that after someone dies you should try to keep life as normal as possible. Not move your family away from everything you've ever known.

Alas, without this move, Mackenzie never would have had this "adventure".

I really loved the ideas in this book. That when you die you don't go to heaven or hell. Instead you are stored away like a book. I think that would be pretty awesome.

I really liked Roland and the way he took Mac under his wing and protected her as best he could. I think Da would really appreciate that.

Wes... What to say about Wes. Guys who wear eyeliner and look like poster boys for attention seekers aren't my type. Even those Wes may dress like that, he actually isn't. He seems like a very sweet and caring guy and I was hoping throughout the entire book that SOMETHING would happen between Mac and Wes. I think that is the only part about this book that I disliked.

Mac's parents seem like they are running from the death of their son and I don't find that very admiring. By the end of the book though they seem to be doing a little better. They need to remember that, while, yes, Ben is dead, they still have another child who needs them.

I enjoyed the fact that I could actually picture the Coronado and everything else in this book. It is very visually appealing.

Mac reached a low point in her life and allowed her need to quiet to get in her way of doing her job. Owen should have been returned IMMEDIATELY! I did like the fact that there was always action in the book. It wasn't all built up and then throw at me in the end like most books do. So the entire book wasn't rushed so we could get to the end.

Even though I didn't like Mac's irresponsibility with Owen, I never thought the book would end the way it did. I just didn't see the deceiving nature in Owen. I was fooled! Fooled I tell you!!

And don't even get me started on the Librarian things. I never expected that part! But in the end it made a lot of sense and explained why Owen never slipped.

I really enjoyed this book and am hoping for a little more romancing in the second one. Wes BETTER make a move! And not just kissing her to read her life either.

Overall, I gave  the book 5/5 kitties.

Review To Be Perfectly Honest by Sonya Sones *SPOILER ALERT!!*

REVIEW: I love this book! I would recommend it to anyone who likes Ellen Hopkins or books written in verse.

Colette lies. A lot! She loves to make up stories and that is going to be her downfall. She uses the excuse of her mothers stardom as the reason she lies/reinvents her life.

I did find it kind of rude that Marissa Shawn changed her kids summer plans at the last minute for selfish movie star reasons. I know this probably isn't really how famous peoples children live but I am glad that my parents are boring and normal.

Will was an adorable little brother. He was definitely wise beyond his years. When I read the line saying "thith ith either about bacon or thex." I died laughing. Oh, yeah, bacon is a staple in this book. Which for most people would have them instantly sold. But I don't like bacon. So the book had to use other charms to draw me in.

Enter Conner. He seemed like such an awesome, amazing guy. I was hoping he would be good for Colette and help her learn to not lie. In the end, he did help her start to not lie, but for entirely different reasons than what I was initially hoping for.

With Conner, Colette met her match. You'd think with how much she like to make things up that she would be about to tell when someone is doing the exact same thing. But the reality is, ever liars don't like to believe that other people lie.

I did and I didn't like the ending. I was kind of hoping the Colette would go through with her revenge plot. I understand that she wanted to "do the right thing" but sometimes people do really need to be taught a lesson.

I am glad that Jack truly wanted to stay in the picture. Having him around will probably help balance Colette out and make her life more family oriented. I am also glad that by the end of this book Marissa Shawn seems to be more of a motherly figure than she started out as.

I have heard people say that books written in verse are stupid/pointless because you don't get much of a story out of it. These people, honestly, couldn't be more wrong. I feel that I got more out of this book than I have gotten out of any of the 500+ page books I have read that were written with the tiniest font.

Overall, I gave this book 5/5 kitties. In short, I would say, sometimes the truth hurts, but lying is much worse.
