Goodreads Description:

In a kingdom by the sea…

In a secret world where half-angel warriors are sworn to fight demons, parabatai is a sacred word.

parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other—but they can never fall in love.

Emma Carstairs is a warrior, a Shadowhunter, and the best in her generation. She lives for battle. Shoulder to shoulder with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of Los Angeles, where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries—the most powerful of supernatural creatures—teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries turn up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were when she was a child, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge—and Julian’s chance to get back his brother Mark, who is being held prisoner by the faerie Courts. All Emma, Mark, and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks…and before the murderer targets them.

Their search takes Emma from sea caves full of sorcery to a dark lottery where death is dispensed. And each clue she unravels uncovers more secrets. What has Julian been hiding from her all these years? Why does Shadowhunter Law forbid parabatai to fall in love? Who really killed her parents—and can she bear to know the truth?

The darkly magical world of Shadowhunters has captured the imaginations of millions of readers across the globe. Join the adventure in Lady Midnight, the long-awaited first volume of a new trilogy from Cassandra Clare.

Review:
Okay so this clearly has a good review BUT that doesnt mean that there wasnt something that irked me throughout the book but that was overshadowed by the over all plot
So I previously mentioned by feelings for Cassandra Clare and then those feelings turned positive when I read The Infernal Devices and then as I was reading Lady Midnight, the feelings split into two
Loving Cassandra Clare as an author
Not loving Cassandra Clare as a person
Apparently, in my world, those two are different.
The brief reason is because of the drama Cassandra Clare (or Cassandra Claire) has gone through and created before, but that is not what I am here to talk about
I am here to talk about the actual book, which I loved.
Okay so I called it from a mile away between Emma and Jules and just kept bracing myself for it to go down
BUT OMG! Burst into flames at that beach scene
The whole thing was pretty intense, not as intense as The Infernal Devices was for me but still, the thing that kept me going and still keeps me going is firstly, Emma and Jules, some more Malec mentions, and lastly, whats going to happen now with Lady Midnight!
So... everything >.>
Shouldve just gone with that xD
But okay, the thing that irked me is that personally, it could be that I am biased and didn't love The Mortal Instruments  (Except Malec) but the constant mention of Clary and Jace, it just felt unnecessary in some scenes, like oh I just randomly called Clary this morning and asked her whats up. Like... Okay, yall are friends but it would just be out of nowhere. Or the constant pop culture references. At first it was like HEYYYY I KNOW THAT! THATS CURRENTLY GOING ON! But then they just kept on coming. Like okay, Clare, we get it, you know your shit.
Back to the positive.
I love that Christina is from the Mexico Institute and the whole her describing what she misses and speaking her native tongue. I would get excited because it was like I UNDERSTAND! I DONT HAVE TO LOOK IT UP! OMG IM CHRISTINA!
I dont know, that is highly just totally me XD
Anyways, I loved Lady Midnight, it might seem like I didnt but I did and I need my own copy (got it from the library) It is beautiful and I need it and the next 2 already

Recommend it?
Uhmm.. Yes
